Admission Info

Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center is a three hundred and twelve bed skilled nursing facility, which is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, State Department of Health, and is certified for payment through both MEDICARE and MEDICAID programs.  The nursing facility provides both short and long-term skilled nursing care, and rehabilitation services.

Medicare covers skilled care.  Medicaid covers nursing facility care or skilled care provided the resident qualifies for financial assistance.  When financial assistance is indicated on admission or within 180 days of admission, it is necessary that the Department of Social Services and the Public Health Department in the locality which you reside determine admission eligibility.  If pre-admission screening and prior authorization are not obtained, Medicaid will not pay for care in the facility.

Skilled care refers to residents requiring closely monitored nursing care by a registered professional nurse or by a licensed practical nurse under professional nursing supervision (e.g., a resident requiring levine tubes, and/or intravenous fluids).  Whereas, a nursing facility care resident is one who is mildly incapacitated or ill to a degree to require some general and limited medical supervision in a nursing facility.

All persons desiring admission must complete an admission application, which is valid for twelve (12) months.  Residents are admitted according to the type of accommodations available, --without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, handicap, ancestry, marital status, veteran status and/or payment source. Applicants should notify Roman Eagle as far in advance as possible when admission is desired, or any change of status, and if admission is no longer desired.

Residents are admitted only upon written order of the attending physician.  Specific requirements include a current physical examination and chest x-ray.
